Scoresheets

Download a PDF to print and fill in by hand, or make a copy in Google Sheets or Excel to type the players in first.

Filling in a scoresheet

Which sheet

  • Mixed league: the seven-match league fixture. One of each singles, men's and ladies' doubles, then three mixed.
  • Doubles league or cup: men's or ladies' doubles. Tick which, and whether it's a league or cup tie.
  • Mixed cup: two ladies' doubles, two men's doubles and two mixed.

Print a blank one and fill it in by hand at the match. If you'd rather type the team names and players first, make a copy in Google Sheets or download the Excel file, fill it in, then print it.

Players

  • Write clearly, in capitals, in black or blue pen.
  • For every player, write their full name as it appears on the team panel, their Badminton Ireland number and their grade. A player who plays two matches goes in twice.
  • Higher graded players play ahead of lower graded players.
  • On the doubles sheet, number your four players from highest grade (1) to lowest (4). The matches are 1 & 2, 3 & 4, then 1 & 3, 2 & 4.

Scores

  • Write each game's score under Game 1, 2 and 3. Leave Game 3 blank if it wasn't needed.
  • Under Won, for each match:
    • Points: the total points that side scored across the games
    • Games: how many games that side won
    • Matches: 1 for the side that won the match, 0 for the side that lost
  • The Totals row adds up each column. The side that wins more matches wins the tie.
  • The Handicap boxes on the cup sheets are for handicap cup ties only. Leave them blank otherwise.

Signing

Both captains check the sheet, then sign it and add their phone number.

Sending it in

  • The winning captain sends it in. If the match is a draw, the home captain sends it.
  • Take a clear photo of the whole sheet, flat and in good light, with all four corners in.
  • Send it on WhatsApp to the county secretary within 48 hours of the match, with your name and the competition, such as "Grade H men group 1". The number is on the scoresheet.
  • Captains keep the paper copy for the whole season.

A scoresheet that's missing a club name, a player's full name, Badminton Ireland number or grade, or a captain's signature isn't entered on Tournament Software. Neither is one that arrives late. The match counts as "no contest" and neither team gets points.

Objections and appeals are sent separately, not written on the sheet. An appeal to Council must come with the scoresheet and a €50 fee.

Typing it in first

  • Making a copy in Google Sheets needs a Google account. The copy is yours to edit, and the original stays untouched.
  • When you type in the game scores, the points, games, matches and totals fill in by themselves.
  • A typed sheet still has to be printed, signed by both captains and photographed.
